Our annual meeting started with outgoing PreZ, Dick K, presenting the results of the annual survey we ask our members to complete online. The first topic was a question to see how many people might be interested in making an overnight trip somewhere. Many possible destinations were discussed. The ultimate decision was an overnight trip to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. Kevin and Tami W volunteered to organize and lead the drive. As details are put together, we'll post them here. The next survey topic concerned the possibility of the club charging annual dues. Of the 40 people who responded to this question, 29 were in favor of this, with the suggested amounts ranging from $5 to $100. Dick is also going to look into club members getting a discount on parts and /or service at Sweeney BMW, Voss, and the BMW Store. Following this, Dick handed out a tentative schedule of drives for the year. The only thing on the list was a drive to Niagara Falls over the 4th of July weekend. This event is being hosted by the BMW DriverZ Group of Buffalo. Chris C will be heading up this drive. Some details are already posted on our Events page. Dick then brought up Homecoming, over Labor Day weekend. After many years, Kevin and Tami W are stepping down as trip leaders for the Thursday drive down, so we're looking for someone to take over this drive. Bob S will be planning and organizing the Wednesday departure to Homecoming, which includes a stop at Deal's Gap and the famed Dragon, 318 turns in 11 miles! Dick ended his presentation by officially retiring as PreZ. He then introduced the new officers, Bruce F as PreZ, Mike C as VP, and Denny Z and Treasurer. Bruce F took over the meeting at this point. He thanked Dick for his years of service to the club, and Chris C for his service as club webmaster. The topic then returned to the idea of charging dues. After much discussion, it was decided that dues would not be charged. Instead, the current "split the pot" drawings will be continued on future drives. We also spent time discussing whether or not the club should purchase a general liability policy. Nothing was decided. After this, Karen C, spoke on behalf of her husband Mike C, who was home sick. She said that since many of the Z3s in the club are out of warranty, Mike thought it would be a good idea to start having some tech presentations at the end of some of our drives. Potential topics include changing your own oil, how to drop the spare tire from under the car, and how to best clean, polish, and wax your car. The meeting then turned to filling the rest of this year's drive schedule. Events are tentatively scheudled for April 2, April 29, May 27, June 17, July 1-4, July 15, August 12, August 30 Homecoming/Deal's Gap, August 31 Homecoming, September 23, and October 21. Bruce and Scottie F will be planning the June 17 drive. Chris and Cheryl C will be leading the drive to join the BMW DriverZ of Buffalo at Niagara Falls over the 4th of July weekend. Denny Z will lead the drive on July 15 to Bardstown, KY. Kevin and Tami W will be planning the overnight drive to Dearborn, Mi on September 20-21. This leaves lots of drives still open. After this, the meeting was adjourned.
