Two Clubs Collide – The Buckeye Minis have invited us to an event.

This drive is open to Buckeye Mini Members, Mini owners and owners of other nimble cars. It’s unlikely that large SUV’s and RV drivers would enjoy the roads we’ve selected.

OK so it’s Memorial Day. You did nothing on Saturday and Sunday you had a BBQ, watched the Indy 500, had too much fun and now it’s the Monday of Memorial Day Weekend and you’re bored and wondering what to do. Your Mini or other fine road machine is in the driveway or perhaps the garage just itching to go on a drive!

Z’s for Zanesville Update

Bob Slone, last weekend completed a test drive of the planned drives on the Friday and Saturday of Z’s for Zanesville. He dopped me an email with some trip highlights and a link to a Picasa album with some great photos he took along the way and at The Wilds.

I have just posted a Picasa Album of our test ride taken last week in preparation for our Z’s for Zanesville Z Series Car Club of America Rally.  The rides and scenery were great.  The Zanesville Hampton Inn met my expectations.  Their free breakfast was good.  I made friends with Terry the maintenance man, who promised to have a car wash station ready behind the hotel when we arrive.  There is a good selection of restaurants nearby, some within walking distance.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday afternoon, June 14.  We will have a driver’s meeting in the Breakfast Room about 6:00 PM so that we will be ready to go early the next morning.  After the driver’s meeting, we’ll head out to the restaurant of our choice for supper.

Here is the link to my Picasa Album: https://picasaweb.google.com/114720919140573864251/ZSForZanesvilleTestRide?authkey=Gv1sRgCMLZ5d7fgpCN1gE#   Be sure to click on “full frame” or “slide show.”  If you click on slide show, adjust the time to more like 10 seconds per photo.

REGISTER AT http://cinzroadsters.com/index.php/events/zs-for-zanesville/

Be sure to register for the event on our local cinzroadsters.com website if you plan to attend.  We have listed more details of the rally there.  In order to reserve a special group tour at The Wilds I will need your check for $30.00 per person in my hand by May 28, 2012.  If we don’t have enough registrants (twenty minimum) to reserve our own bus tour we will simply take a regular tour on our own when we arrive.  My address is:  1506 Monroe Road, Lebanon, OH 45036.

Looking forward,

Bob Slone

Z’s for Zanesville – Drive (Originally WBGO)

Z’s for Zanesville

Bob Slone

Today I finished add the Z’s for Zanesville event here on this site, You can click on events and sign up here. See http://cinzroadsters.com/index.php/events/zs-for-zanesville  for some more detail.

This drive is being organized by Bob Slone who has been with the CInZroadsters for many years, Bob has two Z3′s, One Roadster and One Coupe which are essentially identical except of course for the roof!

Bob is an interesting guy. Now in his mid sixties, he divides his time between driving his motorcycle and his Z’s. He’s an architect, amateur photographer and all round great guy! Bob was one of the key guys who helped Cheryl and I plan or cross country Route 66 drive in 2007 with eight roadsters.

We’re hoping for a great turnout.

Will we zee you there?

Cinzroadsters

The Cincinnati Z Roadsters was started by Dick Koebbe back in 1997. The club has waxed and waned as the years have gone by. Cheryl and I joined the group in 2004 and made our first trip to BMW Roadster Homecoming, Labor Day Weekend that year. We had a convoy of about 22 cars including some folks from Ontario Canada who met up with us at the departure point. The club had some good years and some bad years and about three years ago it waned to essentially nothing as no one wanted to step up and manage the club.

After three years or so of no “Z” drives, we decided to give it a go again and I’m hoping as I write this that we can begin to grow the club again and begin enjoying our fun cars and sharing our experiences again.
